An unenrolled deed can be valid evidence of a name change without court enrolment. HM Passport Office and DVLA accept unenrolled deeds that meet their requirements, alongside the supporting identity and name-in-use evidence they request. This does not establish every bank or other organisation’s policy.

A correctly completed unenrolled deed is not invalid simply because you have not enrolled it, but the two documents may be treated differently by a recipient.

GOV.UK says that, if you have a strong reason why details should not be published, you can explain it in the application; a judge may agree to limit publication.
